Day 4 Arizona

I have taken lots of pictures from our trip so I will break todays post into two, one for Arizona and the other for California pics.

Today we are driving from Tucson Arizona, to Temecula, California.

Day 4 of our studio move to Cali went great! We made excellent time and the day started with another beautiful sunrise from our hotel window. My family and I watched the sun come up as we ate some breakfast before getting on the interstate to continue on our journey. The view of the glowing sun coming over the Arizona mountains is one I will never forget and I feel blessed to have been able to experience such majestic sights with zero effort. Opened the curtain and there she was…

Then we hit the road, I-10 west to the I-8 west into San Diego. But first we drove through enormous mountains surrounding us and standing tall in the horizon.

The sights continued to amaze me. I have always taken the I-10 into Los Angeles, but this time we were going to take the I-8 into San Diego so this is a new route and the sights were all new to me and my family, especially Little Lula, who said “wow” about a zillion times.

I love cactus and seeing the saguaros line the horizon always makes me smile. Saguaros grow very slowly and take hundreds of years to reach the heights you can see them everywhere in Arizona though, so lovely. They don’t grow their first side arm until 75-100 years of age.

And then, as if it was fate, we decided to stop at a place called “Gila Bend” just a small stop for gas, but you’ll never guess what we found, a place called Holt’s Shell, and they had dinosaurs!

We had so much fun taking some pictures and Little Lula got to run around and it turned out to be a great unexpected stop, if you are ever in the Gila Bend area, especially with kids, don’t miss this stop.

Then we were on our way,… next California!

Day 3 Studio Move

Day 3 of our studio move from New Orleans, Louisiana to Murrieta, California went very well! It was supposed to be the longest day thus far but we made excellent time and made our way from Fort Stockton, Texas to Tucson, Arizona. We woke up before the sun came up and I was able to see a beautiful Texas-sized Big Sky Sunrise this morning, breathtaking and so lovely.

But as soon as the sun came out and we were on our way, the mountains and endless horizons are memories one can never forget and pictures do not do these things justice, they are enormous and make you feel so small and tiny when looking up at them. They are ancient and ageless and I love them.

Then after three days in Texas, we finally reached New Mexico, The Land of Enchantment, what a magical place! We stopped at this wonderful place called Akela Flats, a souvenir shop, and they had such lovely gifts!

And guess what I found inside? I found a Wolf Dream Catcher!!

I took hundreds of pictures and will have plenty more to share once we get to our destination in California and start getting the studio set up! Thanks to everyone for following along on our family trip, I love sharing the adventure with you all.

Tomorrow is the last day of our trip and we will be in California, so excited!!!

Day 2 Studio Move

The second day of our studio move slash Big Family Adventure went very well! We left Channelview, Texas at about 7:43 am and drove all day through the beautiful state of Texas. Miles and miles of endless hills, plains, and plateaus. Such a big and vast amount of lovely scenery. My husband is driving, and I am riding in the back seat with Little Lula so we both can take it all in, it’s a wonderful break from all the hustle and bustle of one way streets and city life.

We made quite a few little stops, some just to stretch and some to see stuff! We stopped at this really nice Rest Area with a playground and museum north of Gonzales, Texas that had memorabilia and artifiacts from the Battle of Gonzales so Little Lula got to run around and play with some kids and then see some history! Thanks to the state of Texas for having such safe and clean areas to stop and play along the way.

We are almost half way there according to the miles, and we have two days left of travel. Thanks for keeping up with me during this awesome time of my life, I am very happy to be able to share this experience with you.

We drove for about 7 hours and got a hotel in Fort Stockton, Texas for the night,.. we leave early this morning.

Day 1 Studio Move

Ah, where do I begin? oh coffee, yes… well then…It was raining hard and storming when we left, and it’s been raining for days which made packing up and getting everything ready more difficult but we managed to pull out of New Orleans at 2 pm and made it to Channel View, Texas. Today we drove over 350 miles.

Little Lula was a bit anxious as this is her first trip but we brought lots of entertainment and we have everything we need to keep the drive fun! We have a long way to go but each day should be exciting and adventurous. Lots of driving, but also lots of beautiful scenery and things to talk about and games to play!

We are hoping to do the drive in four days, we have done it previously in three, but with my daughter we are taking it a bit slower paced travel plans. To all my friends in Texas thanks for having us in your beautiful state!
