I first designed this necklace for myself, with the intention of creating the smallest but still beautiful rainbow that I could wear. I own a pair of rainbow tie dye pants, and they are amazing, but I find myself wearing more minimal attire when I am in a rush and working. So this is the perfect little rainbow necklace to wear anytime and with anything. I used stainless steel chain which is totally hypoallergenic and a nice dark silver color that will not change color or irritate your skin. The necklace securely closes with a nice sturdy little lobster clasp. I am making this necklace at 17 inches so it can be layered with other 18-20 inch chain necklaces.
I hand wire the link with the seven colored beads to create the rainbow that is true to the colors in the spectrum: ROYGBIV, or Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet. I hand wire the ends of the link so it is neat and secure. For such a cute and dainty necklace it is actually quite sturdy with reasonable wear. I forget I have mine on! And it is super cute. (Please note this does not glow in the dark)
I used Czech glass fire polished beads which are hand made by artisans in small batches and are truly beautiful. They have an old world stained glass feel to them and I love to make jewelry with them. They feel nice against your skin!
